Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 currently aren’t available for purchase in digital platforms, which is evidently due to Konami’s plans. The corporation is working on new remasters of the three parts of the MGS series, the latest leaks say.
Konami has confirmed today the unveiling of a new game at the Tokyo Game Show. We currently do not know what it might be, but we should not expect a big announcement related to the return of the Castlevania, Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid series, according to VGC editors.
However, Chris Scullion and Andy Robinson also hinted that Konami is rumored to be working on new remasters of classic games in the Metal Gear Solid series.
This information was confirmed by Dusk Golem, a whistleblower affiliated with the Resident Evil brand, who has also heard about the return of Metal Gear Solid:
“I think I can say this because VGC reported it. However, the thing I’ve teased a bit, and I know it’s 100% true, is Metal Gear Solid 1-3 will get new remasters, planned for all platforms, including Steam and consoles. The plan is that you can buy the new remastered versions of Metal Gear Solid 1-3 separately, but if you buy them together as a collection, you’ll also get the Metal Gear 1+2 versions on MSX.”
The Insider emphasized that it had received this news “more than once from more than one reliable source,” but only decided to mention the games when the news was leaked by VGC.
One might suspect that Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2 and Metal Gear Solid 3 will be returning to digital distribution in new versions, and that it is because of the work on the remasters that Konami has taken the older editions of the classic installments of the MGS series out of stores.
