Rumors of Amazon’s Purchase of EA, Things Are Changing Rapidly

The dust still hasn’t settled after ForTheWin’s sensational report by its editors concerning Amazon’s alleged plans to acquire EA, and we already receive another statement, this time from CNBC, denying it. But to better understand the resulting confusion, let us start from the beginning.

Sources from a portal belonging to the widely read USA Today newspaper claim that the Amazon corporation is planning to acquire Electronic Arts, with the official announcement of the plans to be made later today.

The truthfulness of these reports can be supported by recent rumors, which claim that the developer and publisher of games such as Need for Speed, FIFA and Battlefield is looking to find a powerful buyer, but until now no concrete information has emerged in the media.

Reporters from USA Today have speculated that Amazon may be interested in EA, among other things, because of popular licenses – Mass Effect or Dragon Age – that will also can be turned into movies and TV series.

What’s interesting is that CNBC journalists, in a recent report, dismissed the news of a potential acquisition of “Electronic Arts” by Amazon.
