The New DC Universe Will Also Work on Video Games

With James Gunn in the position of co-CEO of DC Studios, a lot of elements of this division are about to change. Among the biggest plans for the future is to expand the universe beyond the movies, and that not only includes television, but also video games.

Through Twitter, Gunn disclosed that the future of the DCEU, to be known as DCU, won’t only be made up of the movies that are in production, but also TV series, anime projects, and videogames will be taken into account. Here’s what he commented:

“The DCU will be connected across film and television (and animation).”

When asked if this will also take video games into consideration, Mr. Gunn responded with a “yes”. Sadly, there are no further details at this time.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is not part of these plans, so it’s currently unknown which will be the first video game to be within the DCU.

Marvel, on the other hand, has decided to leave these two worlds separate. So, right now we don’t have a great precedent to make it clear whether Warner Bros. is going the right way or not.

In related topics, the fans want Robert Downey Jr. to join the DCU. Likewise, with Amy Addams talking about her possible return as Lois Lane.

Although this sounds like an interesting idea, it sounds pretty complicated. Even though we still don’t know how the new DCU will work, the inclusion of video games, that take longer to develop, and risk being delayed, might bring more problems not only in talking about the accessibility of these stories, but also the release schedule.
