PlayStation Is Killing off Its Free Game Guns Up!, Play While You Still Can

The multiplayer strategy game Guns Up! will be dying before long.

PlayStation might not be famous for free games, but PlayStation fans still have a couple of interesting items to play.

Now, its catalog will shrink by one production, though I’m not entirely convinced that the game had a big fanbase.

Nonetheless, Guns Up! will see its servers shut down, so best to play while the title is still alive. And it won’t be for long.

Guns Up! was released on PS4 and PC, with Valkyrie Entertainment studio in charge of the title. The Sony recently purchased the developers, and so the decision to shut down their game’s servers is not that surprising at all.

In the end, the developers will probably now focus on a new item for a big publisher, while Guns Up! was probably not generating much revenue, and so Sony decided to pull the plug. Metaphorically, obviously.

Servers will be active until April 14, 2023, so there is actually some time. Existing players each received 50,000 gold, the in-game currency.

This is to be a kind of compensation, thanks to which saying goodbye to the title won’t be so bitter. The currency can be spent on whatever you happen to desire. Perhaps the title itself is not especially outstanding, but it’s quite an interesting multiplayer strategy.

It mixes elements of RTS with tower defense, and you’ll play the game not only on PlayStation consoles, as well as on Steam.

Does innovative manual reloading and a slick sci-fi western vibe make up for Dust & Neon’s lack of mission variety? Read our full Dust & Neon review for the verdict.
