CoD Warzone 2 Is Expected To Add Verdansk Map in 2023

Call of Duty: Warzone 2's new Building 21 which is playable via DMZ could be the first step in bringing back the Verdansk map.

Even though Call of Duty: Warzone 2 reaped a large number of players at the beginning, it’s not causing the same sensation as the previous installment.

The Activision battle royale is somewhat neglected at the moment (bugs, connection problems, poor balance of weapons…) and the players are noticing it, and many are abandoning the title and losing interest.

However, the company in charge of the free-to-play game is already planning the master move that could bring Warzone 2 back to the golden era of the first Warzone.

Content creator Soki, a Call of Duty specialist, and other community members have commented that Verdansk could be launched in the Warzone sequel, the key to which would be the DMZ mode.

In this one, a new area has been recently added, Building 21, the location of which would be over the old Verdansk, after the nuclear bomb exploded in the era of the first Modern Warfare (2019) and Black Ops Cold War.

This new area would be the key to move users back to Verdansk at some point in the history of Warzone 2. Continuing the lore of the first Warzone, the Verdansk map was destroyed due to a zombie infection that spread without remedy (pandemic that we fought throughout the battle royale in different events).

Activision would right now be preparing a massive DLC for Modern Warfare 2 for 2023, functioning as a substitute for a new Call of Duty.

That batch of premium content would deploy a zombie mode, and given that DMZ and Warzone 2’s battle royale are connected, Verdansk could resurface as a post-apocalyptic scenario combined with Al Mazrah.

The ultimate theory that slowly brings us closer to Verdansk

This is only one theory of many, and should be taken with a grain of salt. The thing that confirms that Building 21 is part of Verdansk is the shape of the map on which it is located, which matches the roads of that previous 2020 scenario, being located close to the old Stadium, Downtown.

If we are not facing an incredible coincidence, it is evident that Activision is studying the option of being able to reincorporate parts of Verdansk to the game little by little, and taking into account that here time travel is the order of the day and zombies were a main element of the previous Warzone, everything can be.
