Electronic Arts are a giant video game company that is a leader in sports titles, and one proof for this is the fact that they have a lot of licenses from different sport organizations all over the world.
One of these is the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), the world’s top mixed martial arts (MMA) company. Yet, the most renowned fighter of this organization believes the current game of the series is “garbage”.
Of course, we are talking about Conor McGregor, the Irish fighter who became the first to hold the lightweight and featherweight belts.
Along with many other accomplishments, he earned him an appearance on the cover of both UFC 2 and UFC 3 video games.
Nevertheless, in the final days of the year, McGregor took to Twitter to lash out at Electronic Arts, calling the current game in the franchise, EA Sports UFC 4, “garbage”, not like the first ones, which “were the best”.
The UFC games license belonged to THQ, in 2014 Electronic Arts took the reins of the franchise, following THQ’s bankruptcy, so that the last 4 installments have been on behalf of EA.
The fighter has apparently not liked how Electronic Arts has managed the series since then. Let’s remember that the last game in what McGregor appeared on the cover was UFC 3, that debuted in 2018. Furthermore, EA Sports UFC 2 is by consensus considered to be the favorite among fans of the sport.

In his statement, McGregor didn’t specify which of the first UFC games he was referring to: whether the ones made by THQ or the original EA Sports games.
Apparently, though, it is the latter, since he accompanied his opinion with an image in which he can be seen playing UFC 2 alongside KSI at a distant press event on the occasion of the title’s premiere.
