Penguin: Batman Spin-Off Series Is About To Start Shooting

We are returning to Gotham.

While James Gunn and Peter Safran have ushered in a real revolution in the DC universe, there seems to be at least one episodic production completely safe.

As reported by Variety, filming for a series centered around the Penguin character will start as early as next month.

As per information released earlier, the upcoming episodic project will be a spin-off of the recently released film The Batman. Colin Farrell, who played the Penguin in the theatrical production as well, will be returning in the title role.

“The action of the series will begin about a week after the events of The Batman movie, so Gotham will still be somewhat submerged. I’ve read the script for the first episode, and I’ll literally be treading water in Falcone’s office,” Farrell recently revealed.

Though the Penguin had been one of the antagonists in The Batman movie, Mr. Riddler was taking up the position of the Bat Man’s main adversary this time around.

We have also recently known that Warner Bros. label is preparing to make a film called The Batman 2. It is therefore possible that Colin Farrell will be returning to his role not only through the upcoming series.

The timeline of the episodic production means that it will bridge the gap between the first and second parts of the cinematic story. And who knows, perhaps a cameo will score Batman himself, played by Robert Pattinson?

Lastly, it’s worth recalling that work is currently underway on yet another project related to The Batman movie.

In the future, the Gotham PD series awaits HBO Max subscribers, centered on Commissioner Gordon. This role will once again be held by Jeffrey Wright.
