Hogwarts Legacy: Will It Become the Most Successful Single-Player Game of All Time?

The reports of success for Hogwarts Legacy don't stop: The game officially launched on Friday after a successful "Early Access" phase and is already breaking records on Steam!

The highly-anticipated “Harry Potter” game, Hogwarts Legacy, has finally arrived, and it’s already making waves in the gaming world! On Tuesday, players who purchased the deluxe version were able to enter the magical world of Hogwarts and embark on their own journey.

By Friday, the game was officially released and it’s already breaking records! Twitch saw an unprecedented number of viewers tuning in to stream the single-player game, setting a new viewership record.

And it’s not just Twitch that’s been taken over by the magic of Hogwarts Legacy, the game has also been making a huge impact on Steam. Currently, it’s just two games away from becoming the most-played single-player game of all time on the platform.

The early access launch on Tuesday was met with an overwhelmingly positive response, with over 200,000 active players on Steam in just the first few hours. And as the week went on, these numbers continued to skyrocket, with almost 700,000 players being drawn into the world of Hogwarts.

Over the weekend, the numbers reached even greater heights, with a staggering 807,112 concurrent active players on Steam! These are truly impressive numbers, especially for a single-player game.

Is Hogwarts Legacy Going To Last 35 Hours?

While it may not be able to compete with the long-standing favorites like CS:GO, which regularly attracts over a million active players, it’s definitely setting new records for single-player games.

So if you’re a fan of the “Harry Potter” universe, now is the perfect time to enter the world of Hogwarts and experience the magic for yourself!

Ah, the age-old question of why almost? Well, my dear friend, there are a mere two games that have managed to surpass Hogwarts Legacy in terms of active players on Steam – for now, at least. The first one, much to our surprise, is the highly anticipated “Game of the Year” 2022, Elden Ring.

This gem of a game was able to capture the hearts and minds of 953,426 players at launch, sending them on a journey through its magical world.

And then there’s the hotly debated Cyberpunk 2077 from CD Projekt Red. Despite its rocky launch and questionable playability, it still managed to amass an impressive 1,054,388 players all simultaneously living out their cyberpunk dreams in the sprawling city dystopia.

However, despite these impressive numbers, Hogwarts Legacy still has a quarter of a million players to go before it can claim the title of the most played single-player game on Steam. Don’t forget to read our in-depht Hogwarts Legacy review.
