Fans of the futuristic racing game F-Zero have been eagerly awaiting a new installment in the series for years. While there have been a few fake announcements and rumors, nothing concrete has materialized.
However, a recent rumor suggests that Next Level Games, the talented team behind Luigi’s Mansion 2 and 3, may be working on a remaster of the classic F-Zero GX game released on the Nintendo GameCube.
This rumor, reported by My Nintendo News, has reignited discussions among fans who have been clamoring for a new F-Zero game for quite some time.
The leaker “NateTheHate” even predicted that the time for F-Zero’s return would be in 2023. While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, this news has certainly given fans hope.
Interestingly, this is not the first time that Nintendo has attempted to revive the F-Zero franchise. In 2011, the company approached Criterion Games, the developers behind Burnout, to create a new F-Zero game for the Wii U. However, due to Criterion’s busy schedule with Need for Speed: Most Wanted, an agreement was not reached.
Despite the lack of a new game, F-Zero has remained a beloved franchise among Nintendo fans. It’s no surprise, then, that a Nintendo shareholder even used a shareholder meeting to ask about the possibility of a new F-Zero game.
For now, F-Zero fans can only hope that the rumors of a remastered F-Zero GX are true. While the franchise may currently only exist in memories and on Nintendo Switch Online, a remastered version would undoubtedly bring back the excitement and thrill of racing at the speed of light.
