Although filming for the second season of HBO’s The Last of Us has yet to begin, it appears that discussions regarding the forthcoming episodes are already underway.

Season 1 allowed viewers to experience the story of the first installment of Naughty Dog’s eponymous series (also available in the PS5 remake on Amazon), while the second season is set to delve into the narrative of Part II.

Both Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann have previously confirmed Season 2 of the popular series, which has garnered significant attention from fans.

As reported by Deadline, Mazin has recently spoken about the adaptation of The Last of Us Part II, specifically addressing the creative process he and Druckmann will employ to transform the video game into a television series.

Mazin stated, “Me and Neil, we pretty much agree that we won’t change anything.” He further explained, “I mean, our creative process worked with the first season. We worked well together, we adapted where and how we wanted. We stayed close to the source material. We drifted apart at times, true, but that process worked out great. So, we won’t change this method. We will continue to push ourselves further in all possible ways.”

The cast for Season 2 will include Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, with Gabriel Luna likely reprising his role as Tommy.

Mazin recently confirmed that additional seasons are planned beyond the second one, which is currently in pre-production.

It is also possible that the showrunners may experiment with the Part II timeline, leaving it uncertain whether the character Abby will appear from the outset.

Ultimately, the second season of The Last of Us may adapt only a portion of the story from Naughty Dog’s second video game, ensuring that fans will be thoroughly entertained.
