The forthcoming season of significant industry events is shaping up to be truly remarkable. Leading names in the gaming world, including Sony with its PlayStation Showcase, and Microsoft with its dual events – Xbox Showcase and Starfield Direct, have already announced their dates, sparking a wave of excitement among gamers.
With the current gaming generation in full swing, expectations are soaring for the unveiling of truly next-gen games from both companies. These games should ideally exploit the potentials of their respective consoles and justify the enormous investments and high-profile acquisitions made in recent years.
However, amid this electrifying atmosphere, some mischief-makers attempt to exploit the hype by spreading counterfeit information, resulting in a proliferation of suspicious ‘leaks’ on the internet.
Fake Leaks Surface
#PlayStationShowcase leaks ; details here :
-Twisted Metal F2P
-Mortal Kombat will have Kratos as a guest exclusively on PS5
-DS2 is not for Death Stranding 2, the real name won't be reveal
-Killzone will have a campaign, seems to be a reboot of the franchise pic.twitter.com/bFSLmlQltr— A vg fan (@srb_photo) May 17, 2023
A case in point is a user named “A vg fan” who posted what purported to be a leaked list of highly-anticipated games. According to the infographic shared, the PlayStation Showcase is set to feature exciting titles including Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Factions, a mysterious Darkside game from Santa Monica Studio, a new Killzone game from Firewalk, and Ghost of Kamakura – a sequel to Ghost of Tsushima, among others.
However, these claims are riddled with tell-tale inconsistencies, such as the omitted “1” from the newly announced Mortal Kombat game, misplaced accents in “Hadès II”, and typographical errors in “Marvel’s Spider-man 2” and “Half Life: Alyx”.
Xbox Showcase Not Spared

Similarly, the Xbox Showcase has not been spared from these dubious leaks. The supposed list for this event also features enticing names but is undermined by obvious errors. For instance, Forza Motorsport is wrongly attributed to Playground Games, rather than its actual developer, Turn 10.
Furthermore, the full title of Ninja Theory’s upcoming game should be “Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II”, not just “Hellblade II”. Lastly, the misspelled “Sliksong” instead of “Silksong” is hard to miss.
A Cautionary Note
Such fake leaks serve as a stark reminder of the need for diligence and discernment when navigating the internet, especially during such exciting times. We urge readers to take all information with a grain of skepticism, and only trust reliable sources.
To conclude, let’s not forget the genuine excitement ahead: the PlayStation Showcase is set to air at 10pm on Wednesday, 24th May, while the Xbox Showcase will follow on Sunday, 11th June, with Starfield Direct to air immediately after.
