Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is gearing up to be a game that pays homage to the roots of the popular franchise. One aspect of this return to the series’ foundations is a departure from the expansive open worlds found in recent installments like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey, and Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla.
Until now, the developers have kept the map size under wraps, but during a recent project presentation, they finally unveiled the scope of the game’s world.
Baghdad: The Central Stage
The action of Assassin’s Creed: Mirage unfolds in the captivating city of Baghdad, which serves as the main setting for the game. In terms of size, Baghdad will be comparable to the city of Paris in Assassin’s Creed: Unity and Constantinople in Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
However, it’s important to note that the map doesn’t end at the city’s borders. Surrounding lands and two additional small towns will be incorporated, adding to the overall experience.
Within the city of Baghdad, players will have the opportunity to traverse four distinct districts, each with its own unique charm and architectural wonders. This focused approach allows for a more intimate and detailed exploration of the city’s rich history and cultural heritage.
A Smaller World, A Focused Experience
While Assassin’s Creed: Mirage offers a sizable world to discover, it is undoubtedly more compact compared to the colossal landscapes of recent RPG-inspired entries in the series. Preliminary reports suggest that completing the main storyline will take approximately 15-20 hours.
Although players seeking complete mastery of the game may extend their playtime, the overall experience will not demand the hundreds of hours required by titles such as Odyssey or Valhalla. This scaling back is a response to fan feedback, with many expressing a desire to return to the franchise’s origins.
Assassin’s Creed: Mirage is set to release on October 12 this year, bringing its focused and immersive world to PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and the Amazon Luna streaming service.
With its compact map and dedication to the series’ roots, the game promises to deliver a memorable and engaging experience within a more intimate environment.
