Despite being approximately a year since the completion of filming for the highly anticipated Borderlands movie, featuring acclaimed actors such as Cate Blanchett as the fiery Lilith, the film still lacks a specific release date and has yet to unveil its first trailer. However, recent revelations by Jamie Lee Curtis, who portrays the enigmatic Dr. Patricia Tannis, have shed new light on the forthcoming production.

During a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, Jamie Lee Curtis delved into the essence of the Borderlands movie. She described it as “a bit over the top and pretty crazy, but it’s fun.” Embracing its unique style, the film promises an exhilarating and eccentric cinematic experience.

Dr. Tannis: A Quirky Character with a Twist

Curtis went on to discuss her character, Dr. Tannis, revealing intriguing details about her personality. She shared that “she has autism. She is a strange woman who has an objectual sexuality, where she falls in love with inanimate objects.”

The Halloween actress continued, explaining that her role in the film serves as a connection to Lilith’s past, portrayed by Cate Blanchett. Dr. Tannis plays a significant part in the narrative, intertwining her story with Lilith’s in a captivating manner.

Explore the Turbulent Journey of ‘Lift’: “Curious about a heist set high above the clouds? Check out our in-depth Review of Lift and find out if this star-studded Netflix film delivers on its high-flying premise or misses the mark.”

An Adaptation that Challenges Expectations

Dr. Tannis, known for her peculiarities within the Borderlands video game franchise, has become an iconic figure. With appearances in all three main installments of the series, the character embodies a brilliant scientist with occasional social and personal challenges.

Jamie Lee Curtis’s portrayal of Dr. Tannis will offer a fresh perspective, bringing depth beyond what players have witnessed in the games, including her apparent fetishism with inanimate objects. The question remains: will this adaptation match the caliber of The Last of Us series, which recently received an impressive 24 Emmy nominations?

As of now, the Borderlands movie does not possess a confirmed release date. However, Jamie Lee Curtis shared her belief that the film is likely to arrive in 2024. Alongside Curtis and Cate Blanchett, the cast features the talents of Jack Black as Claptrap and Kevin Hart as Roland. The screenplay is helmed by Eli Roth, promising an engaging and unforgettable cinematic journey for fans of the beloved video game franchise.
