Traveling through the vast world of Diablo 4 should be a breeze once you’ve acquired your first mount. However, since the game’s launch, players have encountered a few annoying issues with the mount system.

The fast-paced and thrilling experience of riding a Diablo 4 horse has been dampened by clunky handling and frequent obstacles hindering smooth travel. But fear not, as Blizzard is now set to address all these mount-related woes and enhance your journey through the dark and treacherous realms.

Diablo IV

Diablo 4’s Mount Challenges

In response to a user’s question during the Campfire Chat, Blizzard’s game director, Joe Shely, shed some light on the ongoing issues with mounts and the improvements planned for the 1.1.1 patch of Diablo 4.

He admits that while the concept of encountering barricades set up by bandits or skeletons may seem interesting in theory, it often ends up being more of an annoyance than an enjoyable gameplay element.

The good news is that Blizzard is taking action to address this frustration. Shely confirms on Twitter that mounts will soon be able to break through barricades, granting players more agency and allowing them to push through roadblocks in a satisfying manner. With this change, players can keep their mount charge ready and actively break through the obstacles that once hindered their progress.

We're going to allow the mount charge to break through barricades. I realized I didn't state this explicitly during the #Diablo4 campfire chat today.

Improvements Coming Your Way

The 1.1.1 patch won’t stop at just breaking barricades. Blizzard has bigger plans to enhance the overall mount experience in Diablo 4. They are working to make mounts feel better in general, with a special focus on improving the boost mechanic for controller users. Currently, multiple boosts do not correctly stack for players on controllers, but this will be addressed, ensuring a smoother and more seamless ride.

Additionally, the patch will bring improvements to pathfinding. The development team is diligently working to prevent mounts from getting stuck on geometry as players traverse the various regions of the Diablo 4 map. This will undoubtedly make the journey across the dark and dangerous lands of Sanctuary a more enjoyable and uninterrupted experience.

With these exciting changes on the horizon, the Diablo 4 community is looking forward to smoother, faster, and more satisfying mount-based travel. You can watch the full conversation about these upcoming mount improvements in the Campfire Chat video above, with the relevant segment starting at the 1:26:30 mark. Get ready to explore the realm of Diablo 4 with newfound enthusiasm as these improvements bring your mount experience to a whole new level!
