The journey of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide to the Xbox Series X/S has been one filled with twists and turns. Originally intended for a simultaneous release on both PC and Xbox platforms, the Xbox version encountered setbacks.

In January, developer Fatshark openly communicated that the Xbox launch had been postponed indefinitely. The studio was grappling with an array of issues while also addressing player concerns arising from the PC release.

Now, like a phoenix from the ashes, the Xbox Series X/S edition of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide re-emerges with a definitive release date: October 4.

Marking a return to the initial promise, this release date also aligns with an exciting development for Xbox Game Pass members. They will have the opportunity to dive into the game on day one as it joins the Game Pass library.

Enriched Gaming Experience

Fatshark ensures that the Xbox Series X/S launch isn’t merely a replication of past events. The console version will incorporate an array of improvements, including quality of life updates, performance enhancements, and post-launch content that has enriched the PC version since its debut in November of the previous year. Moreover, the release will coincide with a substantial overhaul of Darktide’s class and feat system.

Simultaneously with the Xbox Series X/S and PC releases, Warhammer 40,000: Darktide undergoes a transformation in its class and feat system. An impending update introduces talent trees to the game, redefining the way classes evolve.

Players can anticipate a diverse talent tree with three distinctive paths for each class. This innovation aims to enhance the experience of crafting character builds and draw familiarity for those who have journeyed through Vermintide.

Cross-Play and Community

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide Delayed Again on Xbox Series X/S

While Fatshark hasn’t explicitly confirmed cross-play between Xbox and PC, the recent integration of cross-play between Steam and the Windows Store versions signals the potential for shared adventures between Xbox and Windows players.

Warhammer 40,000: Darktide’s tumultuous voyage finally leads to the shores of Xbox Series X/S, promising gamers an enriched experience with quality of life enhancements, captivating post-launch content, and the engaging challenge of reimagined class progression.

As the release date draws near, players can look forward to a thrilling chapter in the Warhammer universe, enriched by the promise of accessibility through Xbox Game Pass.
