Resident Evil 4 Remake Brings New Frights in VR This December

Experience Enhanced Terror with the VR Mode of Resident Evil 4 on PlayStation 5

Capcom has once again pushed the boundaries of immersive gaming by announcing the release of the highly anticipated VR mode for the Resident Evil 4 remake. This latest enhancement, exclusive to PlayStation 5 users with PlayStation VR2, is set to drop as free downloadable content (DLC) on December 8.

The addition of VR to the already acclaimed remake, which stars the iconic Leon S. Kennedy, offers gamers an unprecedented opportunity to experience this survival horror classic from a new, terrifyingly immersive perspective.

Enhanced Horror Experience with PlayStation VR2

The Resident Evil 4 VR mode, exclusive to the PlayStation 5 version, promises to leverage the advanced capabilities of the PlayStation VR2. This includes a breathtaking 4K HDR display, adding a visceral depth and clarity to the horror-filled environments.

Additionally, the 3D audio feature will envelop players in the eerie sounds of the game, heightening the sense of presence in its unsettling world. The utilization of PlayStation VR2 Sense technology introduces a more intuitive and interactive way to navigate and combat within the game.

Players can expect to wield weapons with naturalistic motions, execute unique gestures for reloading, and experience enhanced knife mechanics for close-quarter encounters. These features aim to deepen the level of engagement and realism in the game.

Demo and Additional Content

For those who own a PlayStation VR2 but have yet to purchase the game, Capcom is offering a sneak peek into this new VR world. A demo will be available on the PlayStation Store concurrently with the DLC release.

This demo provides a comprehensive 360° view of the game’s opening scenes and showcases the newly implemented features, including a Shooting Range mode designed to help players refine their combat skills.

This VR mode adds to the already rich content of the Resident Evil 4 remake. The game, which has seen impressive sales of over five million units worldwide, also includes additional DLCs such as The Mercenaries and Separate Ways. However, it’s worth noting that The Mercenaries Mode, much like in Resident Evil Village, will not be playable in VR.

A Continuation of VR Legacy

The introduction of VR to the Resident Evil 4 remake is not the franchise’s first foray into virtual reality. Capcom previously released the original game in VR exclusively for the Meta Quest. This new VR adaptation for PlayStation 5 is set to provide an even more engrossing experience, capitalizing on the platform’s advanced technology.

This VR release comes at a pivotal time, just a day after The Game Awards, and is poised to boost the PlayStation VR2’s visibility during the holiday season. The timing is impeccable, especially considering that Resident Evil 4 has already claimed the Game of the Year title at the Golden Joystick Awards in a year brimming with major game releases.
