Marvel Studios’ upcoming installment in the Captain America franchise, “Captain America: Brave New World,” is undergoing significant developments. The studio has recently brought on board screenwriter Matthew Orton, known for his work on the World War II thriller “Operation Finale,” to contribute to the project. This addition comes as the film prepares for additional photography sessions slated for the spring.

The decision to include Orton in the production team aligns with Marvel Studios’ strategy of incorporating diverse creative voices into their projects. Orton, who has also contributed to TV series like “Devil’s Peak” and Marvel’s Disney+ series “Moon Knight,” brings a fresh perspective to the “Captain America” narrative. His involvement is particularly timely given the film’s reshoots and the extension of its post-production phase.

These changes come in the wake of the Walt Disney Company’s announcement of delays to its theatrical release schedule following the conclusion of the SAG-AFTRA strike. “Captain America: Brave New World,” along with other Marvel productions such as “Deadpool 3,” “Thunderbolts,” and “Blade,” has seen its release date pushed back from July 26, 2024, to February 14, 2025.

This shift provides nearly seven additional months for the studio to refine the fourth “Captain America” film, which had already completed its principal photography before the actors’ strike. Reshoots, a common practice in blockbuster filmmaking, especially for Marvel, are expected to benefit from this extended timeline.

The Evolving Narrative and Star-Studded Cast

Captain America: New World Order

“Captain America: Brave New World” continues the journey of Anthony Mackie’s Sam Wilson, who took up the Captain America mantle in “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” another Marvel streaming series. Mackie’s transition to this iconic role was announced shortly after the series concluded.

Dalan Musson and Malcolm Spellman, who worked on “The Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” are credited with the screenplay for “Brave New World,” contributing to the continuity and depth of the storyline.

The cast of “Brave New World” brings a mix of familiar and new faces. Harrison Ford steps into the role of Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross, a character previously portrayed by the late William Hurt.

Liv Tyler and Tim Blake Nelson reprise their roles from “The Incredible Hulk,” while newcomers Shira Haas and Danny Ramirez add fresh talent to the ensemble. Julius Onah is at the helm as director, guiding this latest chapter in the Captain America saga.

With Matthew Orton’s addition to the team and the extended timeline for production, expectations are high for “Captain America: Brave New World.” Fans are eager to see how the new creative influences will shape the narrative and contribute to the legacy of the beloved superhero.
