CD Projekt Red, the famed game developer behind the Cyberpunk 2077, is gearing up for its next big releases, and rumors suggest multiplayer elements could be on the horizon for the Cyberpunk sequel.

This speculation follows the studio’s focus shift towards their upcoming titles, notably The Witcher 4, known as Polaris, and the much-anticipated return to the futuristic landscape in the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, presently dubbed Project Orion.

In a conversation with Reuters, CD Projekt Red’s joint CEO, Adam Badowski, hinted at the possibility of incorporating multiplayer features in Project Orion. Although details remain scarce, the mere mention of multiplayer in the Cyberpunk universe has sparked excitement and curiosity among fans.

This potential development marks a significant shift from the studio’s traditional single-player narrative approach, promising a new layer of depth and interactivity in the game’s rich, dystopian world.

The original Cyberpunk 2077, despite its ambitious vision, was marred by technical glitches upon release. However, the studio has since dedicated considerable effort to addressing these issues, raising hopes that any multiplayer aspects in the sequel will be executed with greater finesse and stability.

The integration of multiplayer in such a complex and narrative-driven game presents both an opportunity and a challenge. It offers a chance to explore the game’s intricate world alongside others, potentially enhancing the depth and replayability of the gaming experience. On the flip side, CD Projekt Red will need to ensure that this new feature harmonizes with the game’s core elements without introducing the kind of bugs that initially plagued Cyberpunk 2077.

With the release of Project Orion still a few years away, the studio has ample time to refine and perfect this ambitious endeavor. Fans and critics alike are watching closely, eager to see how CD Projekt Red will evolve its approach to game development in the wake of past experiences.
