Just weeks after the long-awaited current-gen update for Fallout 4 arrived, Bethesda has announced another patch is on the way to further improve the post-apocalyptic RPG’s visuals and performance. The upcoming update, slated for release on May 13th across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, will introduce new graphics and performance settings along with general bug fixes and optimizations.
The recent next-gen upgrade brought native functionality for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, enabling higher resolutions, a 60 frames-per-second performance mode, and other enhancements. However, the rollout was not without issues, with many players reporting broken mods, missing features, and other unaddressed bugs and glitches from the 2015 release persisting.
“We’ve received a lot of feedback, both positive and negative, since the next-gen update went live,” stated a Bethesda community manager. “This upcoming patch represents our commitment to further polish and improve Fallout 4 based on that response from the dedicated community.”
While full patch notes are unavailable, Bethesda specified the update will allow users to further customize graphics quality and performance on the latest consoles and PCs. It remains to be seen if the complained issues surrounding ultra-widescreen support, the Creation Kit, and other legacy problems will finally be resolved.
On Monday, May 13 we will be updating Fallout 4 on all platforms.
This update will include new options for graphics and performance settings as well as further fixes and improvements.
Thanks for your continued feedback and support!

The timing of this new update coincides with a surge in Fallout 4’s popularity following the release of the live-action Fallout TV series on Amazon Prime. The show’s success has already greenlit a second season, no doubt renewing interest in the source material that inspired the brutal yet satirical post-nuclear world.
Fallout 4 originally launched in November 2015 to commercial and critical acclaim, winning numerous Game of the Year awards. Nearly a decade later, Bethesda appears committed to providing an enhanced experience for new and returning players alike on modern hardware. The latest patch aims to smooth out the remaining rough edges and ensure the iconic wasteland remains an appealing destination for years to come.
