Universal ticketing site Fandango reports that early interest in Gunn’s Superman—opening 11 July—now outpaces The Flash (2023) at the same point in its campaign, suggesting the director’s lore-heavy approach is resonating with core fans. Conversely, analysts quoted by SuperHeroHype warn that mainstream viewers may still view the explanation as “comic book silliness,” underscoring Gunn’s challenge of balancing authenticity with accessibility.
For now, the debate over Clark’s spectacles functions as viral marketing: hashtags #HypnoGlasses and #SecretIdentityVision have logged more than 42 million views on TikTok since Friday, according to social–analytics firm SocialBlade, keeping the conversation—and the film—squarely in the public eye.
