Are you ready for one last scare from everyone’s favorite ghost hunters, Ed and Lorraine Warren? New Line Cinema just announced that the final chapter in The Conjuring franchise will hit theaters on September 5, 2025.
Over the past decade, The Conjuring movies have terrified audiences around the world, grossing over $2 billion total. The first film in 2013 really started it all, taking in almost $320 million on just a $20 million budget. It introduced us to the real-life married paranormal investigators played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga.
Since then we’ve seen all sorts of spin-offs, like Annabelle and The Nun. Director James Wan really helped define the modern haunted house style of horror. His classic approach in The Conjuring was both creepy and a big success.
Now Michael Chavez, who also directed The Conjuring 3, is taking the reins for the fourth and last installment. While we don’t know much yet about the plot, it’s sure to deliver more chills and mysteries surrounding the Warrens’ work. Fingers crossed Vera and Patrick will be back too!
When it’s released in IMAX and regular theaters next fall, this final film is sure to go out with a bang. After over a decade of ghostly investigations across eight films, it’ll be bittersweet to say goodbye. But what a legacy The Conjuring is leaving behind – it totally revamped the horror genre. Here’s hoping Ed and Lorraine go out in true spine-tingling fashion!
