Attention all vampire comedy fans – the wait is almost over! FX just announced that the final season of “What We Do in the Shadows” starts next month. I know we’ve all been on pins and needles waiting to find out what happens in the end to Nandor, Laszlo, Nadja and the rest of the gang.
The show is really special because even though it’s about vampires trying to fit in with humans, it finds a way to make you care about the characters. Over the past few seasons we’ve gotten to know them really well and seen them change and grow. I especially love following Laszlo’s crazy experiments and the will-they-or-won’t-they deal with Nandor and Guillermo.
This season promises to tie up all those loose ends while giving us some new adventures too. It looks like Guillermo is having a bit of an identity crisis now that he’s not a vampire assistant anymore. The others might be dealing with some stuff too since one of their old roomies just woke up from a 50-year nap.
It should be lots of fun to see where their stories go from here. The show is so good at mixing in funny jokes with more emotional moments. We’ll get to watch Nandor go to work with Guillermo, see Nadja embrace her inner 1980s woman, and check in on Laszlo’s human-creating project with Colin Robinson.
Plus the announcement said some old faces might return, like Doug Jones’s Baron! Fingers crossed they can also fit in a cameo from everyone’s favorite vampire alter ego, Jackie Daytona. With 11 episodes to wrap it all up, I’m sure the creators will stick the landing.
I’m really going to miss these vampires when it’s over. But ending the show now seems like the right call so it doesn’t lose steam. This way it’ll always be remembered as one of the funniest and most unique comedies around. Mark your calendars – the final bites begin on October 21st!
