Patrick J. Adams, known for playing Mike Ross on the USA Network TV show “Suits,” recently shared stories from his time on the popular legal drama. Adams appeared on “Sidebar: A Suits Watch Podcast,” which he co-hosts with his former “Suits” co-star Sarah Rafferty. He reflected on the show’s nine seasons and the impact it had.
Adams talked about meeting his co-star Meghan Markle for the first time. “Meghan and I actually worked on a pilot together before ‘Suits’ that didn’t end up airing,” he said. This gave them both familiarity with each other’s acting styles during their “Suits” audition. “I think because we already knew each other a bit, it helped us feel more comfortable during the chemistry read,” Adams noted. The producers agreed—according to Adams, “It was pretty clear Meghan was going to get the part right away.”
Adams also drew comparisons between “Suits” and the HBO show “Succession.” He pointed out similarities like shared actors and directors. Both shows also focused on “powerful people moving up in New York City.” However, Rafferty noted “Succession” received more awards recognition likely because it aired on premium cable channel HBO rather than basic cable.
Despite wrapping in 2019, “Suits” found new fans on Netflix and became one of its most-watched shows. Because of this renewed interest, Adams hinted a reunion could happen. He said creator Aaron Korsh is “definitely interested” in getting the cast together for a possible movie. But Adams added it depends on many scheduling factors.
Fans can learn more behind-the-scenes stories from Adams and Rafferty’s podcast. And the recent announcement of a “Suits” spinoff called “Suits: L.A.” suggests the popular drama may continue to find new audiences.
