Colter Shaw returns for another season of searching, secrets uncovering, and saving lives across America’s backroads. CBS’s crime drama Tracker has found its stride with a sophomore outing that builds on last year’s engaging storytelling.

We’re reintroduced to loner and “rewardist” Colter, who travels the country aiding those in need while also pursuing answers about his own clouded past. With Season 2 now underway, Colter takes on new cases each week, from missing persons to mysteries decades old. Along the way, we continue learning more about what shapes this driven yet guarded man and what haunts him still.

All the elements viewers loved last time remain: Colter’s natural gift for connecting with people, the intriguing supporting characters, and self-contained adventures that also tease out longer narratives. This season introduces a chilling missing persons saga from Colter’s history that has personal stakes. As usual, Justin Hartley imbues Colter with charisma and soulfulness that keep us rooting for him through any peril.

So grab your coat and buckle up, because Colter Shaw’s highway just got bumpier with new faces, friend and foe. Whether facing serial killers or shady government forces, this rewardist won’t rest until justice and answers are found. Come see how far one man will go to make things right, both for others and himself, on Tracker’s captivating second lap.

Colter Shaw Returns

Last season we were introduced to rewardist Colter Shaw and saw him embark on quite the journey. While taking on cases of the week, Colter also began peeling back layers of his own murky history. We learned he came from a complicated, survivalist background that left lingering questions.

Colter’s quest for answers brought him into conflict with his brother Russell and renewed strain with their mother. Flashes of the past hinted at darker family secrets yet uncovered. Through it all, Colter remained a lonely wolf, solitary in his work.

Yet for all his independence, Colter knew he couldn’t do it alone. Enter Reenie Greene, Velma Bruin, and Bobby Exley—Colter’s unorthodox support network. Reenie, a lawyer, often accompanied Colter in the field, their playful banter belying a deeper camaraderie.

Velma, a former cop, now kept tabs from the home front. Though friendly, her no-nonsense approach was a foil to Reenie’s unruliness. Then you had tech wiz Bobby, chatting Colter through cases from afar.

Colter relied on these confidantes, even if he loathed to admit it. With Reenie especially, flirtation flared amid stakeouts and jailbreaks. She kept him grounded in warmth where his past only offered cold.

So from lost lovers to looming family darkness, Season 1 set Colter on the move, investigating both outside crimes and inner turmoil. It planted mysteries that Season 2 has only begun to unwrap.

Uncovered Mysteries

Colter Shaw thought he knew himself well after solving countless cases. But Season 2 unveils old secrets still haunting him, driving the rewardist to confrontdemons through a decade-old disappearance.

Tracker Season 2 Review

Viewers first saw Gina Pickett’s name in the premiere, as Colter threatened a man he believes involved. We learned she’d been missing ten years, the sole case to elude Shaw. Now it’s clear why—her fate is entwined with his past.

As Colter delves for answers, the tone darkens. Government tricks and criminal cover-ups emerge amid his digging. Shaw also sees darkness in himself, revisiting childhood traumas shaping who he became.

Viewers glimpse this unearthed past shaping the present through recurring guest star Jensen Ackles, reprising brother Russell. Their family bonds hold buried truths, with new layers to uncover.

Change also comes through regulars. With Robin Weigert departing, Velma and Reenie now operate jointly. Their rapport brings humor offsetting, intensifying mysteries. Cohesion strengthens too with the support team centered together versus scattered locations.

Yet one constant remains: Shaw taking case after perilous case. Though the stakes rise with his personal quest enmeshed, standalone stories continue satisfying longtime followers and newcomers alike. Colter’s adventures feel seamlessly paired with the season’s serialized storyarc.

Some may see darkness as Tracker’s tone grows murkier. But for Shaw, like for us, facing fears within is also a journey of self-discovery. Season 2 promises more unveilings enriching our understanding of this complex “rewardist” at its heart.

Captivating Characterization

No mystery is ever solved alone, but Colter Shaw often feels that way. Yet what keeps viewers rapt is that this rewardist doesn’t merely work solo; he carries the show.

Tracker Season 2 Review

Justin Hartley brings such nuanced humanity to Shaw, holding us with each emotional reckoning. Under Hartley’s pen, Colter feels keenly vulnerable despite walls, relatable despite remoteness. It’s his conflicted soul propelling the action forward.

Supporting cast cements viewers’ investment too. Shaw’s studied reserve plays off partners’ spirited sides. Fiona René sparks as Reenie, cracking Colter’s hard shell, while Abby McEnany anchors as pragmatic Velma.

Guests like Jensen Ackles deepen season arcs. Their exchanges breathe life into exploring family rifts and revelations. Colter’s reconnecting feels meaningful thanks to these actors’ bonds.

Skillful structuring keeps intrigue high. Interweaving character and plot satisfies both bingeers and weekly viewers. Clues sink in over episodes while standalone cases complete.

The latest seasons inject riddles from Shaw’s bygone. This new mystery’s relevance to Colter gives gravity, reminding there’s more beneath the surface. Every piece fits the larger, emerging tapestry.

It’s a rare crime drama so seamlessly balancing character and mystery. Tracker thrives on its multi-layered storytelling and actors who bring heart and humanity to every role. In the end, it’s the people that keep us every bit as hooked as the cases.

Into the Unknown

For its Season 2 opener, Tracker launches viewers straight back into Colter Shaw’s complicated world. The episode sees our rewardist diving into both a new case and resurfaced elements from his shadowy past.

Tracker Season 2 Review

In “Out of the Past,”  Colter’s pursuit of answers regarding the decade-old disappearance of Gina Pickett sets the intimate tone. He confronts Frank, the man long suspected yet never charged. Beneath Shaw’s stoic surface, hints of inner turmoil emerge.

Alongside this personal thread unfolds a timely case. Recalling Season 1 finalist’s cryptic tease, Colter takes on a missing Arkansas family. But deeper digging reveals troubling layers beyond simple “kidnapping.”.

What at first seemed an unfortunate tragedy expands its scope. The family’s history in witness protection resurfaces old threats, endangering loved ones left behind. Colter’s steadying partnership with Connie aids revelation of the real culprit—his “talented” perceptiveness at work.

Subtly, character layers peel back too. Colter’s reconnection with Camille stirs complexity to his dedication. Dynamic shifts also come as Reenie and Velma now stand united, fortifying Shaw’s support.

Expert performances maintain tension throughout. But it’s Hartley who anchors the emotional core, imbuing Colter with quiet resolve, masking deeper hurts.

The episode establishes Season 2’s threat level adequately while hinting at Shaw’s profound past hold. In weaving serialized and standalone arcs, “Out of the Past” opens the next gripping chapter for viewers along for this rewardist’s ride.

Tracking Success

Quality remains top-notch, say critics. Hartley once more owns the role while expanding Colter’s emotional depth. Story arcs intrigue between self-contained thrillers. Viewers stay hooked through serial mystery and empathetic characters.

Tracker Season 2 Review

Distinctly, Tracker forges its path. Where many crime shows rely on gore, this drama stimulates minds. Subtle performances and layered narratives immerse more than shocking twists alone. Colter feels real, relatable despite reservation—a hero to root for wholeheartedly.

Creators sustain captivation through balanced plotting. Clues entice without info-dumps; resolutions satisfy while new threads ever twist. Viewers emerge satisfied yet eager to see where clues lead next.

With acclaim and popularity, Tracker’s future glows bright. Should Season 3 maintain this deft balance of dark intrigue and heart, Colter’s story could captivate for years to come. Amid abundance, this drama distinguishes by tapping what truly compels—authentic characters whose emotional journeys continually surprise.

Tracking Towards the Truth

This season of Tracker built on last year’s foundation of mystery and intrigue. Viewers watched Colter Shaw delve deeper into old puzzles and new, unraveling parts of himself along the way.

Tracker Season 2 Review

Season 2 brought grittier tones but kept focus on what drew us in—complex characters navigating life’s difficulties with heart. Shaw remained a lifeline for those needing help while confronting his own demons with quiet courage.

Justin Hartley embodied the rewardist’s conflicted essence perfectly once more. Around him, an ensemble revealed hidden layers that made us care about each personality. Their blended talents transported us back week after week to this absorbing world.

Thanks go to longtime fans steadfast in their support. For those yet acquainted with Colter, his journey rewards your time. Follow this trailblazer as buried truths surface and perils intensify, bringing our hero ever closer to peace, if not all answers.

One can feel Tracker’s quality priming it for longevity if creative vision holds steady. For now, anticipation runs high awaiting what dangers and discoveries await in the next phase of Colter Shaw’s committed search for resolution—and redemption.
