Production is underway on a new Welsh crime series for Sky called “Under Salt Marsh.” The six-part limited series will take viewers to a fictional coastal town in Wales called Morfa Halen. A talented cast, led by Kelly Reilly and Rafe Spall, brings the complex characters and gripping story to life.
The series revolves around a tragedy in the close-knit community when the body of an eight-year-old boy is found. This discovery reopens a similar unsolved case from three years ago. Kelly Reilly portrays Jackie Ellis, a former detective turned teacher drawn back into investigating when the death of her student mirrors her niece’s disappearance. Rafe Spall plays Detective Eric Bull, who returns to lead the new investigation and must work with his former partner Jackie to uncover long-buried town secrets.
Filming capturing the stunning Welsh landscapes will provide an authentic setting for the drama to unfold. The show features an impressive supporting cast including Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Yang, and Harry Lawtey. Producers are working with Creative Wales for production support from the Welsh Government. Elwen Rowlands, CEO of Little Door Productions, said the talented cast will bring the compelling story and characters to life against “the stunning backdrop of North Wales.”
Sky Studios and Little Door Productions are collaborating on the project. International sales are handled by NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution. As production continues in Wales, anticipation grows for this mystery thriller blending crime drama with exploration of community and environmental themes. Viewers can expect to see “Under Salt Marsh” air on Sky and streaming service NOW next year.
