Anne Hathaway will join the cast of Christopher Nolan’s next film, their third collaboration. This collaboration commemorates an important moment in her career.
The film, which has yet to be named, will be released in IMAX format on July 17, 2026. The cast features Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Charlize Theron. Production is set to begin in early 2025, following Nolan’s practice of delivering highly anticipated cinematic experiences.
For Hathaway, this role is very meaningful. In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, she discussed her emotional reaction to the opportunity. “I have so many feelings about it that I don’t know what to say. “It brings me so much joy,” she stated. Hathaway also mentioned that being invited to work with Nolan for the third time seemed like a dream.
Hathaway’s collaboration with Nolan began in 2012 when she played Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises. Her lauded portrayal as NASA scientist Dr. Amelia Brand in the 2014 film Interstellar followed this. Their professional relationship goes beyond coincidence.
In a recent interview with Vanity Fair, Hathaway discussed how Nolan’s support got her through a difficult phase in her career. She had difficulty finding roles after being subjected to unfavourable public criticism. “A lot of people wouldn’t give me roles because they were concerned about how toxic my identity had become online,” she told me. Nolan’s decision to cast her in Interstellar was a watershed moment, which she regarded as “vitalizing” and “a gift in that moment.”
This upcoming film is more than simply another assignment for Hathaway; it confirms her artistic path. “It makes me feel like I’m doing something right,” she explained, expressing her gratitude for continuing to work with Nolan.
The excitement extends to the entire cast. Tom Holland described his casting as the “phone call of a lifetime,” likening it to his renowned role as Spider-Man.
While specifics regarding the film are still unknown, and previously reported loglines are erroneous, excitement is building. Universal Pictures will distribute the film, continuing Nolan’s tradition of blockbuster summer releases.
