Hollywood star Uma Thurman is set to join Michael C. Hall in “Dexter: Resurrection,” the newest addition to Showtime’s popular “Dexter” series. Thurman will play Charley, a former Special Ops officer who heads security for mysterious billionaire Leon Prater.
The series, now filming in New York, will debut this summer on Paramount+ with Showtime. It picks up where “Dexter: New Blood” left off, with Hall returning as the complex serial killer Dexter Morgan and continuing his role as narrator.
Several fan-favorite actors are returning to the show. David Zayas will be back as Detective Angel Batista, while James Remar returns as Harry Morgan, Dexter’s late father. Jack Alcott will continue his role as Harrison Morgan, Dexter’s son.
The new series promises to resolve the dramatic ending of “New Blood,” which showed Dexter bleeding in the woods while Officer Angela Bishop watched. Clyde Phillips, who led the original series, returns as showrunner for “Resurrection.”
The “Dexter” franchise continues to draw large audiences. Its current prequel series, “Dexter: Original Sin,” starring Patrick Gibson as young Dexter, broke records as Showtime’s most-watched premiere. The show pulled in over 2.1 million viewers across all platforms and helps explain how Dexter survives after the events of “New Blood.”
Thurman brings star power and acting excellence to the cast. She earned an Oscar nomination for “Pulp Fiction” and won a Golden Globe for “Hysterical Blindness.” Her recent work includes roles in “Red, White and Royal Blue,” “Oh Canada,” and “The Kill Room.”
Behind the scenes, the show boasts strong creative talent. Emmy nominee Phillips leads as showrunner and executive producer, with Hall also serving as executive producer. Other executive producers include Scott Reynolds, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Marcos Siega will direct six episodes, while Monica Raymund takes on four. The series is produced by Showtime Studios and Counterpart Studios, with Paramount Global Content Distribution handling worldwide distribution.
