David Beckham offered a sneak peek into the upcoming Netflix documentary about his wife, Victoria Beckham, during a conversation at the inaugural MIP London content and networking market.
Beckham described his wife as “one of the hardest working women I know” and explained that the documentary would reveal more about her life beyond the spotlight. “It’s gonna see her in a different light,” he said. The film will highlight Victoria’s dedication to her fashion brand, her family, and the balancing act she performs. Beckham added that while some may assume her success came easily, Victoria has been building her fashion empire for a long time.
He also mentioned Victoria’s humor, calling her “very witty” and “very funny,” though he joked, “Not as funny as me.”
The conversation also covered Beckham’s own experiences with reality TV. He reflected on his Netflix docuseries, which was produced by his content company, Studio 99. Beckham admitted that some of the footage was hard to watch. “When I first watched a couple of clips, I thought, ‘I think I’ve made a mistake making this.’”
In addition to discussing his wife’s documentary, Beckham spoke about his post-soccer ventures. He highlighted his long-standing partnership with Adidas and emphasized the importance of authenticity in his brand collaborations.
Beckham also shared a funny story about preparing for his Hugo Boss underwear ad. He said he never thought he’d do another underwear commercial but agreed after signing a deal with the brand. He trained for 14 weeks, cutting out “good food and wine” from his diet. Beckham also recalled an awkward moment with his mother-in-law, who “zoomed in” on the ad, prompting him to joke, “Well, don’t zoom in then.”
Beckham’s favorite film, Ratatouille, and his enjoyment of Yellowstone also came up during the chat.
