Prime Video has reached an agreement with Vivienne Medrano, the creator of Hazbin Hotel and Helluva Boss, to bring the animated series Helluva Boss to its platform. The deal includes streaming the show’s first two seasons, which originally debuted on YouTube, as well as producing two additional seasons.
Starting this fall, Helluva Boss will be available on Prime Video, while continuing to remain on YouTube. New episodes from the upcoming seasons will premiere exclusively on Prime Video before becoming available on YouTube. Each of the series’ existing 20 episodes has accumulated at least 12 million views on the platform, where YouTube counts a view after 30 seconds of playback.
Alongside the streaming arrangement, Medrano has signed a first-look deal with Prime Video, giving the platform the opportunity to develop new projects with her and her team at Spindlehorse. “I am so grateful to Prime Video for their continued support of our work on Hazbin Hotel and for allowing our team at Spindlehorse to expand the Hellaverse by embracing Helluva Boss,” Medrano said in a statement. “It’s a dream come true to be able to tell these stories, and I truly can’t wait for you to see what we have planned.”
Helluva Boss focuses on Blitzo (the “o” is silent), a hell-born imp who runs a small and chaotic assassination business. The series blends dark humor with sharp animation, helping to build a dedicated fanbase since its YouTube launch.
Medrano serves as executive producer alongside Tom Murray. The voice cast features Brandon Rogers, Richard Horvitz, Vivian Williams, Erica Lindbeck, and Bryce Pinkham.
The announcement follows the success of Hazbin Hotel, which premiered on Prime Video in January 2024. The show was initially ordered for two seasons and received a renewal for two more seasons in July 2024. Produced by A24 and animated by Bento Box Entertainment, Hazbin Hotel began with an independently created pilot uploaded to YouTube.
The agreement strengthens Prime Video’s focus on expanding its catalog of animated series developed outside of traditional studio systems.
