Paramount Pictures will release The Angry Birds Movie 3 in theaters worldwide on January 29, 2027. This is the first installment in the series to be distributed by Paramount, following two previous films released by Sony Pictures.
Jason Sudeikis, Josh Gad, Rachel Bloom, and Danny McBride return as Red, Chuck, Silver, and Bomb. New cast members include Emma Myers, Keke Palmer, Tim Robinson, Lily James, Marcello Hernandez, Walker Scobell, Sam Richardson, Anna Cathcart, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, Nikki Glaser, James Austin Johnson, and Psalm West.
Production is led by Rovio Entertainment and Sega, alongside Prime Focus Studios, Flywheel Media, One Cool Group, and dentsu. Animation work is being handled by DNEG Animation. Jeanie Chang serves as production designer, with Francesca Natale as character designer. Vadim Bazhanov is head of story, and Sarah K. Reimers is lead editor.
Directing the film is John Rice, who previously worked on The Angry Birds Movie and Beavis & Butt-Head Do the Universe. The script is by Thurop Van Orman, who also directed the second Angry Birds film and serves as executive producer. Additional executive production comes from Toru Nakahara. Producers include John Cohen, Dan Chuba, and Carla Connor.
Composer Heitor Pereira is returning to score the film. Pereira’s past work includes Despicable Me, The Minions Movie, and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. He scored both previous Angry Birds films.
The first film in the franchise earned $352 million globally in 2016. The second, released in 2019, brought in $147.8 million. Together, the films have grossed more than $500 million worldwide. The franchise has also performed strongly on streaming services.
Statements from the production team emphasized the scale of the voice cast and the involvement of studios across multiple territories. Paramount Pictures executive Marc Weinstock referred to the reach of the brand across media formats.
Don McGregor, CEO of Flywheel Media, said the release is part of the company’s focus on global family film production. Rovio CEO Alex Pelletier-Normand highlighted the project’s alignment with the studio’s existing titles and audience engagement across formats. dentsu’s Cathy Boxall noted the brand recognition and the company’s involvement as global marketing partner.
