‘SNL’ Twists ‘The White Lotus’ Into Trump-Themed Parody “The White POTUS”

The sketch casts Trump and his family in a surreal vacation scenario, echoing HBO’s The White Lotus with added political commentary and celebrity cameos.

Saturday Night Live took a sharp turn into political satire with a spoof titled “The White POTUS,” transforming HBO’s The White Lotus into a surreal retreat for the Trump family and key administration figures. The sketch aired during an episode hosted by Jon Hamm and included appearances from Scarlett Johansson, Alex Moffat, and musical guest Lizzo.

The parody recasts characters from The White Lotus season three as figures from the Trump orbit. James Austin Johnson leads the piece as Donald Trump, styled in the manner of Jason Isaacs’s character from the original show. Chloe Fineman portrays Melania Trump with a Southern accent similar to Parker Posey’s Victoria Ratliff, delivering lines that play on the series’ wealthy detachment and political undertones.

“Donald, are you getting ready? Hello? Earth to Donald, it’s your wife, Melania,” she says, as Johnson’s Trump stares off in silence. At the breakfast table, Fineman’s Melania adds, “You would never let our economy go to pieces. Right, hun?” just as Trump reads a headline stating: “Trump Triggers Worldwide Recession.”

The sketch presents the Trump family navigating economic collapse, personal rivalries, and political spin in a setting reminiscent of the HBO series. Mikey Day appears as Donald Trump Jr., filling a role based on Patrick Schwarzenegger’s Saxon. Former SNL cast member Alex Moffat returns as Eric Trump, and Scarlett Johansson makes a surprise appearance as Ivanka Trump. Her character mirrors Sarah Catherine Hook’s role from The White Lotus.

Jon Hamm steps in as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., echoing Walton Goggins’s character Rick. Lizzo plays a character inspired by Belinda, expressing frustration over financial losses with the line, “These old white Trump dudes are trying to ruin my life… It was $20 million last week.”

The sketch includes a fictionalized romantic subplot involving Donald Trump Jr. and Kenan Thompson’s Tiger Woods, referencing a tabloid connection to Trump Jr.’s ex-wife. The segment parodies one of the original show’s most talked-about season three scenes, but swaps the family drama for a surreal twist involving real-world figures.

Additional political stand-ins appear throughout. Heidi Gardner plays Kristi Noem as Homeland Security Secretary. Ashley Padilla portrays Pam Bondi as Attorney General, and Marcello Hernández takes on the role of Secretary of State Marco Rubio. Each character is inserted into the exaggerated vacation setting to comment on real-world political tensions and reputations.

Visual cues from The White Lotus remain intact, with the setting, costumes, and tone mimicking the HBO series. Scenes shift between poolside unease and awkward family meals, punctuated by references to tariffs, global instability, and vanishing fortunes. Johnson’s Trump, rather than addressing the fictional crisis with concern, sits silently eating a chicken nugget.

Beck Bennett reappears as Vladimir Putin, shirtless and smirking, adding another layer of absurdity. Jon Gries, a regular on The White Lotus, also makes a brief cameo as Greg, tying the sketch directly to the source material.
