To deal with the long delays, Rockstar felt that developing a few remasters wouldn’t be such a bad idea.
The relaunch of GTA 5 and GTA The Trilogy are evidence of this, but the New York studio might be doubting its strategy.
Red Dead Redemption, a brain-twisting case
Between the rumors of a second episode for the Bully license and the constant rumors about the next remasters in Rockstar Games‘ books, there is plenty of food for thought. No later than last week, we went back over the rumor of a remaster of the very first episode of Red Dead Redemption, a franchise that is also a big hit for the New York-based company alongside Grand Theft Auto.
Actually, several insiders have been speaking about a possible re-release during the last few weeks and even months, feeding the hype of the players.
Meanwhile, several things have been supporting the rumor of this return, exciting gamers in advance. In fact, and even if all this is to be taken with huge suspicion, the removal of the franchise’s titles from the PlayStation Plus raises questions.
All the more so as the strategy seems to remind us of the steps taken by the Rockstar company when it unveiled a little more about the release of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition. In any case, if the clues hold up on paper and some insiders agree with them, all this would be nothing more than hype, according to a source described as reliable!
A goodbye to Grand Theft Auto remasters?
About an hour ago, the words of TezFunz2 on Twitter, reported by our colleagues from GameRant who present the person as reliable, have swept away – at least on paper – the months of endless rumors about the next remasters of Grand Theft Auto IV and Red Dead Redemption, first of the name.
Rockstar would have been interested in offering remasters to the two iconic games of its catalog, but that would not be on the agenda anymore and there might be a reason for this turn of events!
As per a reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans, remasters of GTA IV & RDR1 were on the table a few years ago, but Rockstar chose not to proceed with the projects in mind.

Naturally, this kind of talk should be taken with a grain of salt and some hindsight. However, TezFunz2 explains that he talked to a reliable source close to Rockstar who explained to him the abandonment of these remastering projects, although without revealing the real reason.
However, TezFunz2 would like to point out the poor reception of Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, a chaotic launch that could have its role to play in the equation. Are there going to be remasters of these two games or not? There is still some doubt, but the balance would seem to lean more towards the negative.
