Will the Division Finally Get a Battle Royale Production?

The French company continues to invest in the development of the brand

the Division

Ubisoft is still planning to expand its brand The Division, which is clearly confirmed by new projects. Now a game focusing on battle royale competition may also join the mix.

This past week, the French industry giant shared its financial results and announced significant rotations in its release schedule – two productions, among them Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, have been delayed, while work on others has been completely halted. Luckily, The Division fans do not need to face anything like negative reports.

New content continues to be released for The Division 2, and The Division: Heartland and the mobile The Division Resurgence – both games developed on a free-2-play business model – are set to debut soon. But it seems quite likely that this is not the end of the exciting developments.

Speaking during the latest episode of the Game Mess Decides podcast, Jeff Grubb revealed that Ubisoft’s intentions for The Division are not over.

In all likelihood, the French company is also working on a battle royale game set in the universe – unofficially, the project has been under development for some time, but was somewhat put on hold after negative reception from testers.

According to the journalist, the company continues to strive to have a successful battle royale title in its portfolio, so the decision has been taken to continue developing a game set in the world of The Division, which would include roguelite elements.

Obviously, we should take any such reports with a pinch of salt until an official announcement is made. But it is worth remembering that Ubisoft announced already last year the expansion of the entire department of free titles – provided the brand is profitable, so nobody should be surprised by its further expansion.

However, let’s hope it doesn’t end up like it did with Hyper Scape, another battle royale from the French developers…
