Ann Dowd Joins the Cast of the New Exorcist Movie

The American actress Ann Dowd (“Hereditary: Legacy,” “A Cinderella Story”) would join the cast of the new “The Exorcist.” Scheduled as a sequel to William Friedkin’s 1973 film, the project is under development for Blumhouse studios.

Requel of “The Exorcist” – What is known about it?

David Gordon Green is the driving force behind the entire project, and has taken on another cult horror film.

In fact, the director behind the requel (that is, both a reboot and a sequel) of “Halloween” is going to repeat his artistic strategy as well to erase the second and third parts of the original series and shoot his versions.

In the first film we will see Oscar nominee for his performance in “One Night in Miami…” Leslie Odom Jr. He will take on the role of a desperate father of a possessed child.

In his search for help, he will turn to a woman who had faced a similar horror in the past. The woman involved in the film is Chris MacNeil (in this role we will again see Ellen Burstyn).

We would like to remind that the character played by Burstyn was not featured in the John Boorman-produced “The Exorcist II: The Heretic” or “The Exorcist III”. There is nothing known about the character played by Dowd for now.

This film is expected to debut on cinema screens in late 2023, a year after “Halloween Ends.”
