Half-Life Alyx expansion, made entirely by fans, has made its debut on Steam. This new campaign looks really solid, plus you can check it out for free.
We are talking about the Levitation modification, which enhances Valve’s hit for VR goggles with a new story campaign lasting about 3-4 hours as well as eight levels prepared from scratch by the game’s fans.
What’s interesting is that the project has been revealed in April this year, so the launch came relatively quickly in comparison to other fan projects or even official Valve productions.
Story continues the plots of the original production and tells the fate of Alyx, who along with Russel returns to City-17, where in the absence of the heroine appeared a mysterious levitating building.
Two resistance members went to the site to investigate, but heard of them disappeared. It will be our task to find them or find out what their fate was.
Gamers who have already managed to try out the new campaign express favorable opinions, and they even happen to compare the production quality to Valve’s official work.
Sadly, the performance and optimization limp a bit, with some players – especially those using Quest or Index kits – complaining about liquidity drops.
The worst in this regard is reportedly the “level in train.” It’ possible that this is the result of some bug, and developers are already looking for a solution.
The Levitation modification can be downloaded in five parts from the project’s Steam Workshop page. Installation requires the basic version of Hal-Life Alyx. Valve Index, HTC Vive, Oculus Rift or Windows Mixed Reality VR goggles are required for gameplay.
