The Game Awards is today the largest awards ceremony in the world of video games, one that can fearlessly be compared to an Oscar gala.

Geoff Keighley, the organizer of the event, continues to make sure that the momentum and glamour of the event grows every year, and it suffices to mention that this year we saw Al Pacino on stage presenting one of the awards, or Michael Madsen presenting a game with his participation.

In fact, Hollywood and the video game industry are increasingly intertwining, and the budgets of many games are today already at the level of the biggest Hollywood blockbusters.

In 2022 we had no shortage of excellent games, and during The Game Awards we are going to know the best productions of the last 12 months. Both the industry and gamers have voted for the best titles, and here you can find a summary of all the nominations and the winners of The Game Awards 2022.

At The Game Awards 2022, God of War Ragnarok had the most nominations (10), while Elden Ring and Horizon Forbidden West came in second (7 each). Stray (6) and A Plague Tale: Requiem (5) also received quite a few honorable nominations.

In the case of developers, Sony (20) is expected to win the most statuettes, with Annapurna (11) and Nintendo (11) coming in second. Bandai Namco (8), RioT Games (6), Electronic Arts (5) and Focus (5) were also acknowledged.

As for the aforementioned awards, the most prestigious statuette was awarded to Elden Ring, which took the title of best video game of 2022.

Elden Ring Players Spot Similarities Between Malenia and Final Fantasy’s Sephiroth

Therefore, the latest production of the From Software studio is adding another award to the long list of accolades it will likely receive in the coming weeks with the next summaries of the year.

As a reminder, Elden Ring is an action RPG that represents the so-called “souls-like” genre of extremely challenging games, which has just been popularized by From Software studio with its Dark Souls series.

The biggest novelty in their new game is the huge open world waiting to be discovered, and there is no shortage of all the elements for which players loved the studio’s previous productions, headed by extensive character development. Elden Ring has already sold more than 17.5 million copies since its launch.

The Game Awards gala, however, is not just about awards in a dozen different categories. It’s also a chance to see new games that will hit stores in the coming months.
