Microsoft has officially responded on the record to the FTC’s decision to block Activision Blizzard’s acquisition by taking it to court, via Brad Smith, company vice president, who posted an official note to The Verge news outlet.
Smith: “We continue to believe that this deal will expand competition and create more opportunities for gamers and game developers. We have been committed from day one to addressing competition issues, even offering earlier this week to make concessions at the FTC’s proposal. While we believe peace deserves a chance, we have full confidence in our positions and look forward to illustrating them in court.”
Adding some context to the situation was Frank X. Shaw, Microsoft’s corporate vice president of communications, who published a link on Twitter to a document discussing how Microsoft is committed to growing the gaming community.
It remains the case that for now the FTC seems to have espoused Sony’s position that the acquisition of Activision Blizzard poses a risk to the video game market, in spite of continued reassurances from Phil Spencer and his people.
