Yves Guillemot, the CEO of Ubisoft, issued an apology to his employees at the beginning of an internal Q&A session today. The apology was in response to a statement he made in an email to the company’s developers last week, which was received poorly by employees.

According to representatives of the Solidaires Informatique trade union, Guillemot’s statement not only underestimated the efforts of his subordinates, but also placed blame on them for the company’s recent challenges.

Guillemot stated that he did not intend to shift responsibility to employees, but rather to emphasize the importance of their talent and energy in helping the company succeed.

He also acknowledged that he and Ubisoft’s management must take actions to create the conditions that will allow the company to succeed together.

However, not all developers were convinced by these declarations. The rest of the meeting did not alleviate their concerns, particularly regarding the recent announcement of a strike and the potential for redundancies.

Additionally, the CEO was vague about the company’s plans for its flagship franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry and Tom Clancy’s games.

The deletion of several new games was also a topic of concern among employees, as it was reported that Project Q, which was announced last year, was also cancelled.
