Millions of Valorant Fans to Lose Access to Game: Is Your Computer Compatible?

Riot Games' Popular Free Video Game to Stop Working on Millions of Computers Running Older Windows Versions.

Get ready to say goodbye to VALORANT if you’re one of the millions of players running Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 8.1. In a recent announcement, Riot Games confirmed that its widely popular FPS game will no longer be compatible with these operating systems starting March 14, leaving many gamers unable to enjoy the game.

This move is part of Riot Games’ efforts to protect the game and its community from cheaters and hackers. The developer studio argued that upgrading to newer versions of Windows will provide better security patches and features, making it harder for hackers to exploit the game’s vulnerabilities.

While this decision has been met with controversy, it’s a logical step towards maintaining the integrity of VALORANT and its players. Older operating systems are more susceptible to malware and other attacks, making them a breeding ground for hackers and other malicious actors.

To continue playing VALORANT, players will need to upgrade their operating systems to at least Windows 10, which comes with a slight increase in minimum requirements. But for those still using Windows 7 or 8, this could mean having to invest in a new computer altogether.

Starting March 14, VALORANT/Vanguard will end support for Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 for security reasons. By switching support to the newer version of Windows, we can take advantage of the latest security features and patches–making it harder on cheaters.

It’s worth noting that Microsoft has also stopped developing updates for Windows 7, leaving the operating system vulnerable to potential attacks. Likewise, Google has discontinued support for the Google Drive app in Windows 7.

As a VALORANT fan, do you meet the requirements to continue playing the game? Will you need to upgrade your operating system or invest in new hardware? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

With its engaging gameplay and beloved cast of characters, VALORANT has become one of the most successful free-to-play games on the market.

Don’t miss out on the action – make sure your computer is compatible with the game’s requirements today. VALORANT is available for PC.
