The Last of Us Part III: Fan Theories vs. Reality

Despite Naughty Dog not announcing any plans for The Last of Us Part III, fans are convinced it's in the works.

Naughty Dog has already started working on a new exclusive game for the PS5, but the studio has yet to confirm whether or not it will be The Last of Us Part III.

However, the success of the TV series adaptation of the first game has reignited interest in the franchise, leading to speculation about a third installment.

Although Neil Druckmann, the director of the series, previously mentioned that he had written a draft of the story, he has also changed his mind multiple times.

His latest statement, made just a few days ago, confirmed that he is already working on a new game but did not clarify whether it is The Last of Us Part III or not.

Regardless of Druckmann’s ambiguous statement, fans are convinced that the game is in development. Games Radar reported that many fans believe Druckmann’s comments are merely a cover-up, and that The Last of Us Part III is already being developed.

Abby Starring in the Last of Us 3? The Actress Would Love To Play Her Character Again

One Reddit post perfectly exemplifies the divided opinion among fans, with some convinced that Part III is coming, while others remain more pragmatic. Some fans even believe that Druckmann is playing games with them, intentionally misleading them about the project.

During the same interview, Druckmann also commented on the success of the TV series, promising not to repeat the mistakes of Game of Thrones. He also clarified a recent theory about Abby, one of the game’s characters.

In other news, the TV series received criticism for its homophobic content, with episodes 3 and 7 receiving the lowest ratings.

Neil Druckmann on Naughty Dog’s next big game: “I know fans really want The Last of Us: Part 3, I hear about it all the time[…]. The decision has already been made. I can’t say what it is[…]we picked the thing we were most excited for”
byu/anonymousUTguy inthelastofus

Despite the lack of an official announcement, the hype for The Last of Us Part III remains high among fans. Whether or not Naughty Dog is actually working on the game, it’s clear that fans’ love for the franchise is as strong as ever.
