Steven Spielberg’s Gaming Obsession: Director Reveals Passion for “Star Wars” Classics on Arcade Machines

Steven Spielberg, the renowned director behind Hollywood classics like Indiana Jones and Jaws, has kept his love for gaming under wraps. However, a recent interview reveals a fascinating detail about his new (old) hobby: his collection of arcade machines, including the iconic "Star Wars" games from Atari.

Steven Spielberg’s latest film “The Fabelmans” is already creating a buzz in the film industry, with many predicting it could win one or two golden statuettes at this year’s Oscars.

As part of the promotional tour for the film, Spielberg has been giving interviews, including a recent appearance on late-night TV with Stephen Colbert.

While discussing his family, his career in Hollywood, and his love of movies, an observant viewer may have noticed something in the background that hints at Spielberg’s secret gaming obsession.

In his early years, Spielberg admitted to having a penchant for video games, and even developed a game himself in collaboration with EA.

However, it wasn’t until the release of his film “Ready Player One” in 2018, which pays homage to a plethora of video games, movies, and TV shows, that his love for gaming became more widely known.

But it’s his latest revelation that has gaming fans excited. In the background of his interview with Colbert, an Atari arcade machine can be seen.

Upon closer inspection, it’s a relatively new model from 2019 by the company 1up, and is likely to have all three “Star Wars” games that Atari released decades ago. These games are considered classics and are highly sought after by collectors and fans alike.

It’s unclear whether Spielberg actually plays the arcade machine, but the fact that he owns it suggests he still has a passion for gaming even at the age of 76.

It’s a fascinating detail about a director who has achieved so much success in the film industry. So, what was your first video game? Let us know in the comments!
