The Game of Thrones universe continues to expand, and fans are in for a treat with another prequel in the works. After the massive success of the original series, HBO has been exploring different spin-offs and side stories, with House of the Dragon being the first to air, set 200 years before the events of the original show. Other projects are also in the works, including a Jon Snow series.

But there’s more. According to reports, HBO representatives have begun preliminary work on a new series centered around Aegon I Targaryen, also known as Aegon the Conqueror.

The show will be set 300 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will follow the story of Aegon and his wives-sisters, Visenya and Rhaenysa.

Together, they conquered and united the Seven Kingdoms with the help of a massive army and three adult dragons – Balerion, Vhagar, and Meraxes. Aegon I Targaryen was the first ruler of Westeros to sit on the Iron Throne and started the long reign of House Targaryen.

Several Game of Thrones Spin-Offs Axed by HBO Max Reorganization, Says George R.R. Martin

While it’s still early days, this new prequel is a tantalizing prospect for Game of Thrones fans. With House of the Dragon already underway, it’s clear that there is an appetite for more stories set in this fascinating world. And let’s not forget the dragons – a fan favorite that will undoubtedly play a prominent role in this new series.

As for House of the Dragon, the second season is currently in development, and we may even see the return of Rhaenyra’s story before Aegon’s conquest debuts.

HBO is also preparing to expand its Max platform, with one of the pillars being a new Harry Potter series. With Aegon’s conquest potentially joining the ranks of upcoming HBO projects, fans have plenty to look forward to.

The Expanding Game of Thrones Universe

With House of the Dragon already taking off and new projects in the works, the Game of Thrones universe is expanding rapidly. It’s a testament to the enduring popularity of this world and the characters that inhabit it.

Whether it’s exploring the history of House Targaryen or delving into the lives of our favorite characters, there is no shortage of stories to tell.

One of the most exciting prospects is the new prequel centered around Aegon the Conqueror. This legendary figure has been referenced throughout the original series, and it will be fascinating to see his story brought to life on screen.

With his wives-sisters and their dragons, Aegon was able to conquer and unite the Seven Kingdoms, setting the stage for the long reign of House Targaryen.

While it’s still early days, the potential for this new series is enormous. Game of Thrones fans have shown that they love epic battles, complex characters, and, of course, dragons. And with House of the Dragon already underway, it’s clear that there is an appetite for more stories set in this world.

It’s not just Aegon’s conquest that’s on the horizon, either. The second season of House of the Dragon is in development, and fans may even see the return of Rhaenyra’s story before Aegon’s debut.

And with HBO expanding its Max platform, there’s even more reason to be excited. Whether it’s dragons, witches, or epic battles, there’s something for everyone in the expanding Game of Thrones universe.
