Seth Rogen’s latest casting wish went out live on ABC when the actor-producer stared down the camera and told Vin Diesel, “If you would please consider … maybe we can organize a Zoom” for The Studio’s second season. Rogen explained that seeing Diesel outside the Fast & Furious franchise “would be very exciting,” noting the star has played Dominic Toretto for most of today’s twenty-somethings’ lives.
The unscripted invitation capped a publicity run that has kept the Hollywood send-up in conversation a month after Apple TV+ gave it a season-two order. The streamer hailed the show—created by Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory and Frida Perez—as its latest “global hit,” citing strong engagement since the March 26 debut. Season 1’s ten episodes, stuffed with celebrity self-parodies from Martin Scorsese to Charlize Theron, wrapped on May 21.
Goldberg told Deadline that one completed script—originally meant for the first season—will likely anchor the new run. Titled “The Test Screening,” it was postponed because a specific guest star was unavailable, underscoring the show’s dependency on high-profile cameos. Rogen’s public overture to Diesel suggests producers are again aiming for marquee names to lampoon the industry’s image machinery.
While Apple declined to comment on casting and Diesel’s representatives did not immediately return requests for comment, industry watchers note the franchise actor has experimented with comedy before, from The Pacifier to voice work in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Whether he accepts Rogen’s invitation could influence production timing; Apple has yet to announce a filming start or premiere window for season 2. For now, Rogen’s on-air pitch doubles as marketing for a show already lauded as a sharp Hollywood mirror—and perhaps soon to feature one of its most bankable action stars in a new comedic light.
