Steven Spielberg, the creator of the Indiana Jones series, has expressed his admiration for the upcoming film Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny, the first installment not directed by him.

The filmmaker had the opportunity to watch the movie, and he was thoroughly impressed by what he saw. In fact, he even joked that he thought he was the only one who knew how to make these movies.

Spielberg was invited to attend a screening of the film organized by Bob Iger, the President of The Walt Disney Company, for Disney employees.

Along with Spielberg, director James Mangold was also in attendance. After the screening, Spielberg had nothing but praise for Mangold’s work, stating that he was proud of what he had achieved.

Indiana Jones 5

“When the lights came on, I turned to the group and said, ‘Gee, I thought I was the only one who knew how to make these movies,'” Spielberg added.

The director, who began the Indiana Jones franchise with the blockbuster hit Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981, teamed up with George Lucas to create three more sequels: Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom in 1984, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade in 1989, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2008. Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny will be the final installment in the series.

Harrison Ford will also bid farewell to his iconic role as the adventurous archaeologist. To suit the opening sequence of the film, the almost 81-year-old actor will undergo digital rejuvenation. Indiana Jones and the Artifact of Destiny is set to premiere in cinemas worldwide on June 30, 2023.

It is clear that Steven Spielberg has a deep appreciation for James Mangold’s work on the latest Indiana Jones film. Fans of the franchise can look forward to a thrilling and action-packed adventure, bringing the beloved series to a fitting conclusion.
