Even though Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s recent annual report confirmed that “Mortal Kombat 12” is under development and slated for a 2023 release, the official unveiling of the fighting game remains uncertain.
Recently, rumors have linked “Mortal Kombat 12” to a potential announcement at the upcoming PS5 Games Showcase, which is reportedly scheduled for the end of the month.
Jez Corden’s Speculation on Guest Characters
This week, Jez Corden, Windows Central editor, sparks new discussions by suggesting two possible guest characters for “Mortal Kombat 12.”
Corden, known for his insider knowledge, mentions DC’s Peacemaker and Homelander as potential guest characters in the latest installment of the long-running fighting game series.

While Corden’s predictions and statements are often accurate, it is still uncertain if NetherRealm Studios has indeed secured the two comic characters for “Mortal Kombat 12.”
However, the inclusion of guest characters should not be surprising, as previous Mortal Kombat games have featured well-known characters such as the Xenomorph from the “Alien” series, John Rambo, and Freddy Krueger from the iconic “Nightmare” or “A Nightmare on Elm Street” series.
Teaser Suggests Imminent Announcement
Although the official announcement of “Mortal Kombat 12” remains unclear, the developers at NetherRealm Studios have recently hinted at an upcoming reveal with a teaser.
According to unconfirmed reports, “Mortal Kombat 12” may see the return of Shao-Khan’s General Reiko and the Konquest Mode, a single-player story experience.
“Mortal Kombat 12” is expected to be released for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
