Asus ROG Ally, a Steam Deck Contender, Possibly Cheaper Than Expected but Still No Easy Buy

The gaming industry eagerly awaits the new Windows handheld from Asus, with expectations running high. On May 11th, the Taiwanese company will host a launch event, likely announcing the release date and pricing for the Steam Deck competitor.

After the US price was leaked by Best Buy a few days ago, we now have a leak that indicates the potential cost of the ROG Ally in European markets.

Comparing Prices: ROG Ally, Steam Deck, and Aya Neo 2S

According to initial information, the ROG Ally will be available in two different versions, priced at $600 and $700 in the United States.

Roland Quandt from Winfuture is said to have discovered that the Windows handheld with the more powerful AMD Z1 Extreme processor will cost €800.

If this information is accurate, the ROG Ally will be “only” €120 more expensive than the highest-priced Steam Deck. The cost of the cheaper variant with the standard AMD Z1 processor remains unknown, but it is likely to be around €700.

This would position both ROG Ally consoles as direct competitors to the most expensive Steam Deck variant. In terms of pricing, the ROG Ally seems more affordable than the Aya Neo 2S, which uses the same processor but will cost over €1,000.

May 11th Event: Awaiting Confirmation on Pricing and Specs

We will likely discover whether this leak is credible on May 11th. You can follow the event live from the provided YouTube video.

What do you think about the projected price? Is it too high, too low, or just right? Would you choose the Asus ROG Ally over the Steam Deck if the €700 and €800 price points prove accurate? What do you consider the pros and cons of the ROG Ally? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
