Debi Mazar is describing a darker side of working on “Entourage,” claiming the HBO comedy’s set soured on her after she gave birth to her second daughter in 2006 and her body changed.
Speaking to The Times UK, Mazar said the show’s early days felt nothing like what came later. “Season one was a joy-fest,” she said. “But in the third season, the set was a testosterone-fuelled environment. I’m tough, but it got toxic towards the end for me.” She linked the shift directly to her postpartum body, saying, “I’d had my second baby, and they didn’t like that I got fat, even though I got skinny again.” She added that speaking her mind made the dynamic more complicated but maintained she stayed professional throughout, calling the experience “a lot of fun, until it wasn’t.”
Mazar played publicist Shauna Roberts across all eight seasons of “Entourage,” which ran on HBO from 2004 to 2011 before she reprised the role in the 2015 film. Season 3, the stretch she described as toxic, aired in 2006 and 2007, the same period she welcomed her second daughter with husband Gabriele Corcos, an Italian chef she married in 2002. The couple has two daughters together.
Series creator Doug Ellin pushed back hard against the claim, responding on X after The Hollywood Reporter posted about Mazar’s comments. “My thoughts are this is disgusting,” he wrote. “Never, ever did myself or anyone that matters care or discuss Debi Mazar’s body. I would one million percent embrace any woman who got pregnant.” Ellin acknowledged commenting on other cast members’ physiques, saying he once wanted co-star Adrian Grenier more muscular and wanted Jerry Ferrara, who played Turtle, heavier — remarks he now says he regrets given the health implications, adding that he’s glad to see Ferrara’s since transformed his physique.
The dispute surfaces as talk of a possible “Entourage” revival continues to circulate, with Grenier previously signaling openness to revisiting the show while noting any return would need to reckon with how much the industry has changed since it aired.
