CD Projekt, the esteemed video game developer known for blockbuster titles such as “The Witcher” and “Cyberpunk 2077,” has categorically dismissed swirling rumors of a potential acquisition by Sony.

Over the past weekend, speculation was rife following a claim made by a user, notable for leaking “Destiny” content, that Sony had designs on purchasing the Polish developer to bring it under the umbrella of Sony Interactive Entertainment.

Despite the questionable reliability of the source and the far-fetched nature of the rumor, Adam Kiciński, the President and CEO of CD Projekt, felt it necessary to unequivocally dismiss such speculations.

In response to an inquiry from a participant, the CEO firmly reiterated the company’s long-standing stance, saying, “nothing has changed on our part”, and continued to underline the point, stating that “CD Projekt is not for sale.”

Kiciński emphasized the developer’s desire to maintain its independence. He proudly noted their excellent strategy, acknowledging that while it might not be easy to execute, it was both exciting and rewarding to pursue their unique path. He ended his statement by labeling the acquisition rumors as “pure speculation.”
