Armored Core 6 Sets Itself Apart: Embracing a Unique Direction Separate from Elden Ring

In an interview with Korean media outlet Ruliweb, FromSoftware has confirmed that Armored Core 6, their highly anticipated title set to release on August 25, will diverge from the open-world format.

Masaru Yamamura, the director of the game and the mastermind behind Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, shed light on this decision, explaining that the studio aimed to emphasize the unique characteristics of the Armored Core series.

A Distinctive Approach

During the development process, there were discussions about incorporating open-world mechanics into the mecha-themed game. However, the team ultimately concluded that a more linear gameplay style would better showcase the strengths and essence of the Armored Core franchise.

Armored Core 6

Yamamura expressed, “The charm of the Armored Core series lies in the customizable movement capabilities of the robots and how it impacts gameplay. It encourages players to strategize and consider the robot’s speed and movement through jumping or pushing, all of which can be modified with various parts. Thus, we decided that an open-world environment wouldn’t align with these core mechanics.”

Differentiating from Elden Ring’s Success

While it may appear unusual to deviate from the open-world formula, especially considering the immense success of Elden Ring, which has sold over 17 million copies, FromSoftware aims to resurrect the Armored Core series with a fresh and distinctive approach.

By staying true to the franchise’s roots and offering a gameplay experience centered around robot assembly and customization, Armored Core 6 intends to carve out its own unique identity.

“Step into the opulent and orchestrated world of Lisa Vanderpump with our Vanderpump Villa review. Experience the blend of luxury and staged drama in this unique reality TV show.”

A Carefully Crafted Map

Although Armored Core 6 will not feature an open world, it promises players a meticulously designed map that rewards exploration. Yamamura mentioned, “I believe players will find great pleasure in thoroughly exploring every corner of the thoughtfully crafted environments.” This suggests that the game will provide opportunities for discovery and hidden surprises, adding depth and immersion to the gameplay experience.

Armored Core 6’s departure from an open-world structure highlights FromSoftware’s intention to honor the beloved franchise while infusing it with a renewed sense of individuality. By focusing on the strategic aspects of robot assembly and customization, the game aims to captivate players with its unique gameplay mechanics.

As the release date draws nearer, anticipation grows for the chance to delve into the intricacies of Armored Core 6’s carefully constructed world and experience a thrilling adventure unlike any other.
