The highly anticipated Season 5 of Stranger Things has encountered its fair share of hurdles, first with the writers’ strike in May, and now with the actors’ strike further delaying production. Despite these setbacks, devoted followers of the Netflix series would undoubtedly prefer a delay over a rushed and unsatisfactory conclusion to the beloved story.
While waiting for the show’s return, fans have been immersing themselves in numerous theories that speculate about the fate of the characters and the unfolding plot involving the menacing Vecna, who remained a lingering threat after Season 4.
The Intriguing “Poster Theory”
One particular theory gaining traction among fans is the so-called “poster theory,” which revolves around the promotional posters released by Netflix for Season 4. Notably, the Duffer Brothers confirmed that one of these posters, featuring the gang with their backs to the viewer except for Max, foreshadowed the crucial connection between Sadie Sink’s character and Vecna. Now, as Season 5 approaches, attention has shifted to other posters, holding potential clues for the forthcoming finale.
Decoding the Stares: Possible Character Fates
According to Screen Rant, the “poster theory” suggests that the way certain characters gaze into the distance, instead of directly at the viewer, might hint at their destinies in the series finale. Three characters – Joyce, Jonathan, and Mike – are the focus of this intriguing theory.
Notably, they do not face front in their respective posters, in contrast to Max, whose fate was glimpsed in Season 4. Sadie Sink’s character barely survived Vecna’s scheme, thanks to Eleven’s timely intervention, but she endured significant challenges by the season’s end.
Potential Targets for the Series’ Villain?
If the “poster theory” holds true, the lives of Joyce, Jonathan, and Mike could be in jeopardy, with Vecna potentially targeting them in the final season. Naturally, this is still a speculative theory, and the characters may not necessarily suffer more than their peers in Season 5.
As new posters for the upcoming season are unveiled, they might spark different and diverse theories among fans. What are your thoughts on this compelling speculation?
In conclusion, as the wait for Stranger Things Season 5 continues, fan theories offer intriguing insights and speculation on the possible fates of beloved characters.
The “poster theory” provides an exciting lens through which fans can delve into the mysterious future of the Stranger Things universe. Nonetheless, until the season finally premieres, viewers can only wait in anticipation to see how the story truly unfolds.
